quinn vs the UK market

quinn vs Nannytax, NannyPAYE, koru Kids & every other UK nanny payroll provider

There are a dozen companies that will run your nanny's PAYE. The marketing copy on most of them sounds identical — "end-to-end," "we handle it all," "peace of mind." So instead of comparing adjectives, we compared five verifiable facts: pricing, who registers you, who receives the correspondence, who actually executes the payments, and whether that's included or a paid add-on.

Our method

Every claim below is taken directly from each provider's own website, pricing page or terms as published, checked in July 2026. Where a provider's public materials didn't confirm a fact, we've marked it "not publicly stated" rather than guess.

  1. Who holds the authority with HMRC/NEST — a real agent authorisation, or nothing more than a login?
  2. Who actually executes the payment to HMRC and to the nanny — the provider, or the employer?
  3. Is payment execution included as standard, or a separate paid add-on?
  4. What's the entry-level annual price for one nanny, monthly payroll?
  5. Is employment-law advice included, and from whom?

Spotted something that's changed since July 2026, or think we've got a detail wrong? Get in touch and we'll correct it — pricing and service terms in this market change often.

Where quinn doesn't lead

NannyPAYE includes a phone line to a qualified employment solicitor as standard, and Nannytax offers unlimited HR support — quinn's support covers payroll matters and confirms typical employment-law practice, but isn't a substitute for formal legal advice. In practice this is rarely needed, but if ongoing access to a qualified solicitor matters most to you, it's worth weighing against quinn's payment-execution advantage.

The detail behind the table

Provider by provider

quinn

From £19/mo + 1% of gross, capped £49/mo

Holds HMRC agent authorisation and NEST delegated authority. Executes payments to HMRC and NEST as standard, and optionally pays the nanny's net wage too — no add-on required. You top up one amount each month; quinn allocates it.

Nannytax

From £276/yr

Essential/Premium/Complete tiers cover registration, payroll, pension and HR support. Paying HMRC and the nanny on your behalf is a separate “Nannytax Plus” add-on at £17.50/month — the provider states 86% of customers add it.

NannyPAYE

£270–£295/yr

Payroll and pension service with a qualified-solicitor employment advice line included as standard. Bills you quarterly by default, and you pay HMRC yourself; “NannyPaye Pro” (+£12.50+VAT/month) adds payment execution.

Nannywage

From £159/yr (monthly) or £199/yr (weekly)

Registers you with HMRC, runs payroll and provides pension administration. Its own instructions tell the employer to pay the net figure to the nanny directly — payment execution isn't advertised as included.

Tax Nanny Payroll

From £10/mo (£120/yr) or £3.47/week

Fully comprehensive payslip and RTI filing service, including P45/P60 production. Payment execution on the employer's behalf isn't mentioned in its public materials.

Nanny Payroll (nannypayroll.uk)

From £275/yr

Registers you with HMRC and helps set up a Direct Debit — between you and HMRC, not the provider. You receive a payroll summary showing what to pay HMRC and your nanny, and pay both directly yourself.

Way2paye

From £195–£215/yr

Handles registration and quarterly payroll calculations, advising the employer via a P32 form how much to pay HMRC each quarter — which the employer then pays themselves via bank transfer or card.

Pay My Nanny

From £185/yr

Calculates PAYE, holiday, sick and maternity pay and handles HMRC reporting. States plainly on its own site that it does not pay the nanny or HMRC on the employer's behalf, noting this would require FCA payment-service authorisation.

Lily's Payroll (Little Ones)

Price on enquiry

Little Ones' in-house payroll partner. Its own marketing pages give conflicting descriptions of payment execution — one states all HMRC payments are made on time, another describes quarterly reminders and payment mechanisms for the employer. We couldn't confirm which applies as standard.

Feather Payroll Solutions

Price on enquiry

Acts as the employer's HMRC representative for correspondence and RTI reporting. The employer receives a copy showing exactly what's owed to the nanny and HMRC, and pays both directly.

koru Kids

Standalone payroll from £350+VAT/yr, or bundled into an all-inclusive hourly nanny rate + £199 setup fee

Primarily a nanny-finding and management platform rather than a payroll-only service. Notably, it does manage the actual payments to the nanny and HMRC, and pays NI and pension contributions on the employer's behalf.

Frequently asked

Common comparison questions

How is quinn different from Nannytax?

Nannytax's plans (from £276/year) register you with HMRC, calculate payroll and provide HR support, but don't pay HMRC or your nanny for you by default — that's the separate “Nannytax Plus” add-on at £17.50/month. quinn's service includes executing those payments as standard.

How is quinn different from NannyPAYE?

NannyPAYE (around £270–£295/year) includes a qualified-solicitor employment advice line as standard, but bills you quarterly for HMRC payments you make yourself unless you add “NannyPaye Pro” (+£12.50+VAT/month). quinn includes payment execution as standard; NannyPAYE currently has the edge on formal legal advice.

Does koru Kids execute payments to HMRC on my behalf?

Yes — koru Kids is one of the few UK providers, alongside quinn, whose service includes managing the actual payments to the nanny and HMRC, not just the calculations. koru Kids is primarily a nanny-finding and management platform with an all-inclusive hourly rate model; quinn is a payroll and employment-administration service you can use with any nanny.

Which UK nanny payroll providers actually pay HMRC and the nanny for you, rather than just calculating the amounts?

As of July 2026, most UK nanny payroll companies calculate the amounts and tell you what to pay, while you execute the payment yourself — sometimes with a paid add-on available to remove that step (Nannytax, NannyPAYE). quinn and koru Kids are two providers whose standard service includes executing the payments directly.

See what quinn actually does, not just what it says

Register your nanny's employment and let quinn take the payments off your plate — HMRC, NEST and your nanny, all handled.
